Messaging-for-success

DarkFire Photography™ unlocks your authenticity and unleashes your power.

Our Messaging-for-success connects you with decision-makers and forms the basic sales collateral you'll need for networking and leveraging your growth: business cards, 4x6 message flyer, and brochure.

When you're just starting out, these, plus a simple web site, are the basic forms of marketing collateral that you'll need and use as you go about networking, meeting prospects, and pitching your new business. They should look nice, but don't have to be perfectly award-winning, stop-the-trains incredible. That can all come later. First get some sales using the basics. A big mistake entrepreneurs make is spending too much time on the cosmetic design and not enough time on the basic messaging and knowing how that fits into the sales process.

Besides, as you go along testing and adapting your message and product to the real world, you'll begin finding what works and what doesn't, what phrases resonate, and what analogies speak to your market. That future time will be a more productive use of your resources and knowledge to make better marketing collateral. Right now, at the beginning, you just need to get started.

What is Messaging?

Messaging is an internal document which positions you, your brand, and your product for the marketplace. It simply and compellingly answers the question: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How. Once a Messaging Statement exists, it is used to inform all collateral produced for a company.

Since this is a well-studied area, we refer you to a couple of external sources with good explanations (below).

"Brand messaging refers to the underlying value proposition conveyed and language used in your content. It's what makes buyers relate to your brand by inspiring them, persuading them, motivating them, and ultimately making them want to buy your product."

"Your message strategy is the foundation for everything you do. It needs to be strong or your marketing efforts will fall apart. Your message strategy consists of a positioning statement and three to four support points. The positioning statement addresses the target market’s most pressing problem by stating a benefit; i.e. why the target market should care about your ... product, solution, service, company or technology."

What is marketing collateral?

"In marketing and sales, marketing collateral is considered the collection of media used to support the sales of a product or service. Historically, the term collateral specifically referred to brochures or sell sheets developed as sales support tools. These sales aids are intended to make the sales effort easier and more effective. A company enhances its brand through a consistent message, using a balance of information, promotional content, and entertainment."
